I finally got to really work my new B7800 today. I was digging out my old gravel driveway in front of my pole barn so we can pour a concrete slab down on Saturday. I was getting off of the tractor and my arm touched the power beyond port hose fitting and it felt pretty hot. It was actually too hot for me to keep my hand on it. I went into the shop and got my infrared heat gun out and started shooting temperatures. The power beyond and return line were 135 degrees. The transmission case was 160 degrees. The loader valve was 120 degrees. From what I know about hydraulics this is too hot.
Has anyone ever checked how hot their hydraulic/transmission oil was? How hot is too hot? I think I will somehow figure out how to get a temperature gauge mounted on the transmission case so I will always know what temperature the oil is. Any information or help would be appreciated.

If it were me I would not worry about a temperature guage just yet, I would get info from the manufacturer on what the normal range is and see if your recorded temp is within spec. ....

Those are nasty little tools that do often make us ask more questions! I've used them under hard conditions and find them around 195 degree's. ....

My PB Port is too hot to touch when the tractor is working hard.... even on a cold day, plowing snow.
Speaking of cold... a good way to tell if your oil is warmed up on a winter start-up: wait until the frost melts off the metal port couplings. That takes about 7-10 minutes at +15 degrees with my 4115. ....
